Hyderabad: Panic gripped students after a fire broke out at a coaching institute located in the Nilgiri Tower building near Maitrivanam in Ameerpet on Friday. According to preliminary information, the fire erupted on the fourth floor of the commercial building, triggering thick smoke that quickly spread across the premises. Several students present inside the institute were alarmed as smoke engulfed corridors and classrooms. A few students were reportedly trapped on the upper floor due to the dense smoke. Alerted by locals, the police, traffic police, and fire department personnel rushed to the spot without delay. Fire tenders were pressed into service, and firefighters began dousing the flames while simultaneously launching a rescue operation. Students who were stranded were safely evacuated through the balcony with the assistance of fire and police personnel. As a precautionary measure, electricity supply to the building was immediately cut off to prevent further risk. Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident. All students and staff were brought to safety. Preliminary suspicion points to a short circuit as the possible cause of the fire. However, authorities stated that a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact reason behind the incident. Traffic movement in the busy Maitrivanam–Ameerpet stretch was temporarily affected during the rescue operation but was later restored. Further details are awaited.
