Razdan Pass Receives Fresh Light Snowfall, Temperature Drops in Gurez Valley The Gateway to Gurez Valley, Razdan Top, received a fresh spell of light snowfall on Monday, marking the onset of the winter season in the higher reaches. The snowfall brought a noticeable dip in temperature, adding a chill to the air across the region. Razdan Pass, the only road link connecting Gurez Valley with Bandipora district headquarters, often experiences early snowfall due to its high altitude. The 84-kilometre-long Bandipora–Gurez road has not yet been opened for regular travel, as authorities continue to monitor weather and road conditions closely to ensure the safety of commuters. Officials said that while the snowfall was light and did not cause immediate disruption, continuous monitoring is underway to assess any possible impact on the road connectivity. Locals in Gurez said the fresh snow, though beautiful, signals the beginning of the cold season when the valley often remains cut off for months due to heavy snowfall. Authorities have advised residents and travellers to stay updated on weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel along higher reaches until the conditions stabilize.
