NCB Chandigarh Zonal Unit Busts Interstate Charas Smuggling Racket from Jammu & Kashmir to Mumbai The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Chandigarh Zonal Unit, in close coordination with the NCB Jammu Zonal Unit, has successfully dismantled an interstate charas smuggling racket operating from Jammu & Kashmir to Mumbai. Based on specific intelligence, a joint operation was conducted on 05.02.2026, resulting in the seizure of 6.874 kg of high-grade Charas and the arrest of four accused persons. During the operation, NCB teams intercepted a bus at Bathinda Naka Road, Mandi Dabwali (District Sirsa, Haryana). The contraband was being trafficked under the guise of a family journey, wherein a husband-wife duo attempted to evade suspicion by concealing the narcotics in their luggage while travelling with minor children. The concealment strategy was effectively foiled by the vigilant NCB teams. Simultaneously, the NCB Jammu Zonal Unit apprehended two J&K-based suppliers involved in the supply of the seized contraband. Both accused have been placed on transit remand to Sirsa for further investigation. A case has been registered vide NCB Crime No. 02/2026 dated 05.02.2026 under Sections 8, 20 and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985, at Sirsa District, Haryana. Further investigation is underway to identify the complete supply chain, buyer networks, financial linkages, and possible syndicate connections. The Narcotics Control Bureau reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and organized narcotics networks.
