3 Cops Killed, Dozens Injured as Strike Continues in PoJK for Second Day
The ongoing protests in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) entered their second consecutive day, witnessing escalating violence and unrest. According to reports, three policemen were killed and dozens injured in clashes between security forces and demonstrators in Muzaffarabad and adjoining areas.
Markets, transport, and educational institutions remained shut across all districts, as the region observed a complete strike. Protesters continued their demonstrations against inflation, electricity shortages, and lack of basic amenities, defying heavy deployment of security forces.
BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir spokesperson Altaf Thakur strongly condemned the killings of civilians and police personnel in PoJK. He said that the situation reflects the “complete failure of Pakistan’s governance in the occupied territory,” adding that “the voice of the people cannot be silenced by bullets or internet blackouts.”
Meanwhile, authorities in Pakistan have further tightened restrictions, extending the internet and mobile shutdown across the region. However, protests show no signs of fading as Gen Z-led youth groups intensify their resistance.
Jagmohan Singh Raina, a prominent Kashmiri sikh leader, also welcomed the courage of PoJK’s people, calling their resistance a “positive sign of awakening.” He said that the oppressed population was “finally standing up for their rights,” which, according to him, “exposes the real face of Pakistan’s suppression in the region.”
SBSP party president Vivek Bali also expressed solidarity with the people of PoJK and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “raise the issue on international platforms and expose Pakistan’s atrocities.” Bali said that the voices of PoJK residents “must be amplified globally so that justice is not denied to them any longer.”
