Guru Nanak Jayanti Celebrated with Devotion Across Jammu and Kashmir Devotees across the world today celebrated the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism and the first Sikh Guru, with great devotion and enthusiasm. The day, popularly known as Gurpurab, was marked with prayers, Kirtans, and messages of peace and unity. From early morning, devotees thronged Gurdwaras, where Akhand Path and Kirtan were held to mark the sacred occasion. Nagar Kirtans — colourful processions led by the Panj Pyare — were taken out in various towns and cities, spreading Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s eternal teachings. Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s message of “Ek Onkar” — that there is only one God — continues to inspire millions across the globe. His teachings on equality, compassion, honesty, and selfless service remain deeply relevant in today’s world. Langars, the community kitchens initiated by Guru Nanak himself, were organized in Gurdwaras across the region, where people from all walks of life sat together and shared meals — symbolizing his timeless message of oneness and humility. In Jammu and Kashmir, special prayers and celebrations were held at historic Gurdwaras, including Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi in Rainawari, Srinagar. The event witnessed large participation from devotees, with prayers offered for peace and prosperity in the region. IGP Kashmir joined the devotees on the occasion, while All Party Sikh Coordination Committee Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina extended greetings to the community and urged people to uphold Guru Nanak’s ideals of harmony and humanity.
