In Srinagar, prominent Islamic scholar Maulana Nazir Ahmad Kasmi addressed an important issue during Ramadan while speaking to Salaam TV. He strongly advised the youth to respect the sanctity of fasting and avoid wrong practices during Iftar. Maulana Nazir Ahmad Kasmi expressed serious concern over some youngsters breaking their fast with cigarettes. He clearly stated that breaking the fast with cigarettes is absolutely wrong and against the spirit of Ramadan. He emphasized that Ramadan teaches self-control, purification, and discipline and smoking goes against these values.Maulana Sahib urged the youth to open their fast with Sunnah practices such as: Dates (Khajoor)Water Simple and halal food Dua and gratitude He said Ramadan is not only about staying hungry but about cleansing the body and soul.What breaks the fast Maulana Kasmi explained According to Islamic teachings, the following things break the fast 1. Eating or drinking intentionally. 2. Smoking (cigarettes, hookah, vape, etc.). 3. Intentional vomiting. 4. Marital relations during fasting hours. 5. Menstruation or post-childbirth bleeding. 6. Receiving nutrition through injections or IV drips.However, he clarified that Forgetfully eating or drinking does NOT break the fast.Unintentional vomiting does NOT break the fast.Maulana Sahib concluded by appealing to the youth to make Ramadan a month of reform, discipline, and spiritual growth.Ramadan is a gift from Allah. Let us respect it with purity in actions and intentions.
