Rajya Sabha Member Ghulam Ali Khatana on Wednesday said that the Mata Vaishno Devi MBBS issue is assessed on the basis of merit and the guidelines laid down by the Medical Council of India, asserting that there is “no Hindu–Muslim angle” involved. He added that if an institution is associated with a particular ideology, that factor also holds significance. Responding to a question by NC MP Aga Ruhullah on the reservation issue, Khatana described it as an internal matter. He said the people have given a mandate to the NC government, and it should focus on addressing basic public grievances such as electricity and water supply, rather than diverting attention towards unnecessary controversies.
