Kulgam, Nov 21: Acting on specific inputs about fresh encroachments and illegal constructions, the district administration on Thursday carried out a demolition drive on State (Khachari) land in the Hannad area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, a team from the Revenue Department—led by Tehsildar Kulgam, Nisar Ahmad Wani, along with Naib Tehsildar Kulgam and officials from the Municipal Committee Kulgam—reached the location and dismantled multiple unauthorized structures erected over State/Khachari land. Speaking to media, Tehsildar Kulgam said that no one is permitted to raise any construction on State land or any other land category without obtaining proper permission from the competent authority. “The structures raised on State (Khachari) land were demolished today. Repeated warnings were issued to the violators, but they continued with illegal activity, leaving the administration with no option except action,” he said. He further warned that similar drives will be intensified in other parts of the district as well. “People are advised not to encroach upon State land or raise unauthorized structures. Violators must be ready to face strict action and consequent loss,” Tehsildar added. The district administration reiterated that strict enforcement against illegal constructions and land encroachments will continue, ensuring full compliance with land and building laws across Kulgam.
