Kashmir Hajj & Umrah Association Appeals for Relief in Pilgrimage Fees Nisar Wani, President of the Kashmir Hajj and Umrah Association, has appealed to the Government of India and the Ministry of Haj Committee to waive off interests and heavy taxes levied on the fee amounts for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. He highlighted that lakhs of people across the country, including thousands of locals from middle-class families, find it extremely difficult to afford the exorbitant fees imposed for these sacred journeys. Nisar Wani stressed that many intending pilgrims approach the association seeking assistance, but sadly return disappointed due to the high costs and rigid taxation. He urged the authorities to introduce a proper mechanism that ensures fair handling and financial relief, making these significant religious obligations accessible to all faithful without added burden. He emphasized the urgent need for policy reform, considering the religious and emotional value of Hajj and Umrah in the lives of millions.
