On the occasion of International Women’s Day, several programmes were organized across the district of Kupwara to highlight the role and contribution of women in society. Speaking to the media, Basharat Kirmani, a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (Female Wing) district Kupwara and daughter of noted Islamic scholar Late Molvi Manzoor Ahmad Kirmani, spoke about the importance, dignity, and rights of women from an Islamic perspective. She said that Islam has given great respect and clear rights to women in society and emphasized that women must play an active role in education, social development, and nation-building. Referring to the challenges of the present era, she highlighted the importance of awareness, moral values, and education for women to face modern-day issues confidently. Kirmani also appealed to women to recognize their potential, seek education, support one another, and contribute positively to society while upholding moral and cultural values. She added that International Women’s Day is not only a day of celebration but also a reminder to work collectively for the empowerment, dignity, and equal opportunities for women in every field.
