The weather changes again in the Kashmir valley, the snowfall started and the severe cold continues. People are facing problems in Baramulla and Tangmarg due to this snowfall. The recent heavy snowfall in the Kashmir valley has completely paralyzed the routine of life. Highways and internal roads are still blocked while prolonged power outages have left the people in dire straits. Patients are unable to reach hospitals, elderly women and children are shivering in the bitter cold. The education system of students is affected and the daily wage earners have lost their jobs. In this deadly cold weather, electricity is a basic necessity of life. We strongly appeal to the authorities concerned to speed up the snow removal process on an immediate, effective and priority basis and ensure restoration of power to all affected areas on an emergency basis, especially residential and remote areas. Further delay will only add to public hardship. Only prompt, responsible and compassionate action at this critical time can save people from further suffering.
