Senior National Conference leader and MLA from Anantnag West, Abdul Majeed Larmi, has reiterated that horticulture remains the backbone of Kashmir’s economy, while also acknowledging the growing importance of the tourism sector. Speaking during the final match of a cricket tournament at Dailgam in Anantnag, Larmi said that horticulture plays a pivotal role in sustaining the region’s economy and livelihood of thousands of families. He further added that tourism too is a vital sector that contributes significantly to Jammu and Kashmir’s economic development. Larmi clarified that his recent statement was misrepresented by some quarters but maintained that he stands firmly by his words. He emphasized that his remarks were focused on the economic priorities and development needs of his own constituency, not Kashmir’s broader tourist destinations.
