BJP–NC Coordination Key for J&K’s Progress: MLA Dalip Singh Parihar, Electoral roll revision underway, elections likely within 2 months
Credits Narendra Modi government for strengthening grassroots democracy
Claims post-Article 370 abrogation, situation improved with no stone pelting or bandh calls
Anchor: Emphasizing the need for political coordination, Bhaderwah MLA Dalip Singh Parihar said that collaboration between the BJP and NC is essential for ensuring sustained development in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to ZEE Media, BJP MLA Dalip Singh Parihar stressed that both the Centre and the Union Territory NC Government must work in close coordination to ensure that the benefits of elected governance reach the people effectively. “Without coordination, development in any part of Jammu and Kashmir is not possible,” he said.
Responding to queries regarding elections to local bodies, including DDCs, BDCs, Panchayats, and ULBs, Parihar highlighted the importance of the three-tier system for grassroots development. He noted that these institutions play a crucial role in addressing local issues by staying connected with people at the ground level.
The MLA acknowledged that with the tenure of these elected bodies having ended, and many currently defunct, the burden on MLAs has increased significantly in terms of addressing public grievances directly.
He further stated that while local representatives handle smaller developmental works, MLAs should focus on larger, public-oriented infrastructure and policy initiatives.
Parihar informed that the revision of the electoral rolls is currently underway and expressed hope that elections for local bodies would be conducted within the next two months to restore the three-tier governance system in the region.
Highlighting the BJP’s commitment, he said that the party recognizes the importance of grassroots democracy. He credited the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for conducting BDC and DDC elections in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time after 2014, thereby strengthening democratic institutions.
Praising the Centre’s efforts, Parihar added that the overall situation in the region has improved significantly following the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A, citing an end to stone pelting, bandh calls, and protests.
