GANDERBAL — As the cold wave intensifies in the morning hours across Ganderbal, residents—especially labourers and those in the business sector—are facing immense difficulties commuting from one place to another. The freezing temperatures have forced many people to gather around roadside firewood to keep themselves warm. Locals said they are wearing multiple layers of warm clothing to protect themselves from the biting cold. They also expressed hope that snowfall in the coming days will bring relief from the harsh weather and the prolonged dry spell. A local resident from Ganderbal said the cold is “extremely high,” making it challenging for people to step out for work. “We are facing many difficulties. We wear several layers of clothes and try different ways to keep ourselves warm,” he added.
