Spl Story;6th National Rafting Championship Flagged Off at Shibnote, Showcasing Doda’s Tourism Potential Slug-2202ZS_DODA_RAFTING_R By Raja Rehber Jamal Location-Doda Anchor:The Directorate of Tourism Jammu, in collaboration with the District Administration Doda, today successfully flagged off the 6th National Rafting Championship at the scenic rafting site of Shibnote (Premnagar), marking the commencement of a four-day mega adventure sports event titled “The Ultimate River Battle.” The prestigious championship was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh, IAS, along with SSP Doda Sandeep Kumar Mehta and the Joint Director Tourism Jammu, amid breathtaking natural surroundings. Several senior officers and dignitaries were present on the occasion, including ADC Bhaderwah Sunil Kumar Bhutiyal, SDM Thathri Sheetal Singh, the Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, Tehsildar, besides other district officers and officials. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from sportspersons, cultural artists, local residents, and tourists from various states, adding colour, vibrancy, and excitement to the championship. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Doda lauded the participants for their spirited involvement and appreciated the relentless efforts of the Tourism Department and all stakeholders for successfully organising the event. He emphasized that such large-scale adventure sports initiatives play a crucial role in highlighting the natural beauty of the region and unlocking the vast tourism potential of Doda district, while also promoting local employment and economic growth. The National Rafting Championship has brought together skilled rafting teams competing in the challenging waters against a backdrop of picturesque landscapes, reinforcing Doda’s emerging identity as a hub for adventure tourism.
