BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur reacted to the Supreme Court’s stay on key provisions of the Waqf (Amendment) Act. He said the Bill is aimed at bringing transparency, accountability, and an end to alleged mismanagement of Waqf properties. Thakur stressed that Waqf assets belong to the community and must be used for the welfare of the poor and needy, not for vested interests. He welcomed the Court’s scrutiny but asserted that reforms in the Waqf Board are inevitable and in the larger public interest.
