An Air India ground staff member has been arrested by the Kempegowda International Airport police in Devanahalli on charges of sexually harassing a South Korean businesswoman under the pretext of airport security checks. The arrested person has been identified as Mohammed Afghan Ahmed (25), a resident of Kammanahalli. He was working as a ground staff at the airport, police said. Incident details: ​The 32-year-old South Korean businessman, who had come to India on a tourist visa in November, had recently arrived at Terminal 2 of the airport to return to his home country. The incident took place when he was in the international departure area after clearing CISF and immigration checks. Fraud ring: The accused Ahmed, falsely claiming to be a security guard, checked the woman’s boarding pass. Luggage Pretext: He took her to a secluded area near the men's toilet on the pretext of manual frisking, believing that there was a technical problem with her checked-in baggage. Indecent Behaviour: He molested the woman by touching her private parts on the pretext of a check-in. When the woman resisted, he forcibly hugged her and then sent her away, saying 'thank you'. CCTV footage of the incident: The victim immediately complained to the airport authorities. The officers who immediately acted and checked the CCTV footage confirmed that the woman's complaint was true. The airport management clarified that the accused Ahmed had no authority to physically search the passengers. Legal Action: The police, who have registered a case of sexual harassment under the Indian Penal Code on the woman's complaint, have arrested the accused and produced him in court. The accused has currently been sent to Parappana Agrahara Central Prison.
