Srinagar | Renovation of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) Dargah Women’s Prayer Section Completed\n\nThe women’s prayer section at the revered Dargah of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) in Srinagar has undergone a major renovation and has been opened to devotees with an entirely new look. The upgraded space features exquisite Kashmiri traditional khatamband woodwork, meticulously crafted by local artisans, giving the area a serene, warm, and culturally rich ambiance. Officials and members of the managing committee said the renovated section will provide a peaceful and comfortable space for women devotees, especially those visiting from far-flung areas of the Valley. They added that the initiative aims not only to improve facilities but also to preserve Kashmir’s architectural heritage. J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Daraksha Andarabi inaugurated the newly renovated section, officially named “Noor Khana.” Speaking to Salaam TV, she said that expanding the prayer space had been a long-pending demand of devotees. She added that restroom facilities and other amenities at the shrine will now be upgraded on a priority basis. Devotees expressed happiness over the development, saying the Noor Khana will make it easier and more comfortable for women to offer prayers. Meanwhile, the Imam of the Dargah, Moulana Mudasir Geelani, said the renovation will greatly help devotees offer their prayers without any hindrance. He added that the Waqf Board has finally fulfilled a long-standing demand of the community.
