The Animal Husbandry Department has confirmed African Swine Fever in the sixth ward of Mulankunnathukavu Grama Panchayat in Thrissur. The Animal Husbandry Department informed that the disease was confirmed during tests conducted at the NIHSAD lab in Bhopal. A Rapid Response Team (RRT) has been launched to prevent the spread of the disease under the leadership of the Animal Husbandry Department. To prevent the disease from spreading to other areas of the district, a one-kilometer radius around the farm where the disease was detected was declared an infected area and a ten-kilometer surveillance zone. For the distribution of pork from these areas and the operation of the shops that distribute it, District Collector Arjun Pandian has instructed the District Animal Husbandry Officer to impose strict restrictions on the movement of pigs to other districts. The measures are being taken as per the Central Government's Plan of Action.
