Kolkata, 13 October 2025: In a major success under the ongoing “Operation Satark”, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Howrah, Asansol, and Malda Divisions of Eastern Railway conducted coordinated checks and operations on 12 October 2025, leading to the arrest of five persons and the recovery of cash amounting to Rs 46,00,000 and 173 bottles of foreign liquor valued at Rs 39,140 from trains and station premises at Bolpur, Bamangachi, Asansol, Jamalpur, and Bhagalpur railway stations. One person arrested with Cash Rs 19,00,000 at Bolpur station; one person arrested with Cash Rs 27,00,000 at Bamangachi station; one person arrested with 53 bottles foreign liquor valued Rs 9,240 at Bamangachi; one person arrested with 54 bottles foreign liquor valued Rs 9,360 at Asansol; one person arrested with 49 bottles foreign liquor valued Rs 12,630 at Jamalpur Railway Station; 17 bottles foreign liquor valued Rs 7,910 recovered at Bhagalpur Railway Station as unclaimed. The arrested persons, along with the recovered cash and liquor, have been handed over to the concerned Excise Department/GRPS for necessary legal action. The seized cash will be handed over to the Income Tax Department for further investigation and follow-up. This successful operation highlights the vigilance and commitment of RPF personnel towards ensuring safety, security, and lawful use of railway premises, as well as preventing illegal activities on trains and stations under Eastern Railway.
