Noida, Uttar Pradesh:Canada welcomes President Trump''s historic new Middle East peace plan: PM Mark Carney Ottawa [Canada], September 30 (ANI): Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Monday (local time) welcomed US President Donald Trump''s "historic" new Middle East peace plan and reiterated Canada''s stand to support the "large-scale" delivery of humanitarian aid into and throughout Gaza "Canada welcomes President Trump''s historic new Middle East peace plan, and we urge all parties to help it realise its full potential. As the critical next step, Hamas must immediately release all hostages. Canada stands ready to support the sustained, unimpeded, and large-scale delivery of humanitarian aid into and throughout Gaza," PM Mark Carney posted on X. "We will continue our close coordination with international partners to build a just and lasting peace that builds on today''s progress, with a sovereign, democratic, and viable State of Palestine building its future in peace and security with the State of Israel," his posted added. White House on Monday (local time) released a peace plan to end the two year old Gaza conflict following a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The peace plan included that Gaza will be a deradicalized terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbors and will be redeveloped for the benefit of the people of Gaza, who have suffered more than enough. The peace plan stated that If both sides agree to this proposal, the war will immediately end. Israeli forces will withdraw to the agreed upon line to prepare for a hostage release. During this time, all military operations, including aerial and artillery bombardment, will be suspended, and battle lines will remain frozen until conditions are met for the complete staged withdrawal. The peace plans further stated that within 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting this agreement, all hostages, alive and deceased, will be returned. Once all hostages are released, Israel will release 250 life sentence prisoners plus 1700 Gazans who were detained after October 7th 2023, including all women and children detained in that context. For every Israeli hostage whose remains are released, Israel will release the remains of 15 deceased Gazans. The point plan states that once all hostages are returned, Hamas members who commit to peaceful co-existence and to decommission their weapons will be given amnesty. Members of Hamas who wish to leave Gaza will be provided safe passage to receiving countries. Upon acceptance of this agreement, full aid will be immediately sent into the Gaza Strip. At a minimum, aid quantities will be consistent with what was included in the January 19, 2025, agreement regarding humanitarian aid, including rehabilitation of infrastructure (water, electricity, sewage), rehabilitation of hospitals and bakeries, and entry of necessary equipment to remove rubble and open roads. The peace plan mentioned that entry of distribution and aid in the Gaza Strip will proceed without interference from the two parties through the United Nations and its agencies, and the Red Crescent, in addition to other international institutions not associated in any manner with either party. Opening the Rafah crossing in both directions will be subject to the same mechanism implemented under the January 19, 2025 agreement. (ANI)

Noida, Uttar Pradesh:DRY NEWS India resumes extradition to US after 17 years, sends Indian citizen wanted in fatal car crash case New York, Sep 30 (IANS) India has resumed extraditions to the US after a 17-year hiatus, sending over an Indian citizen wanted in the US on criminal charges, according to officials. Ganesh Shenoy, 54, who fled to India after a crash that killed a 44-year-old man 20 years ago, was taken into custody by the US Marshals Service in Mumbai and brought here on Thursday, the Nassau County prosecutor''s office said on Monday. “After decades of evading law enforcement and dodging prosecution, my office finally returned this defendant to the United States to answer for the tragic death of a husband and father of two more than 20 years ago”, the prosecutor, Anne Donnelly, said. He was produced on Friday before a judge who ordered him held without bail, she said. The crash happened early morning in April 2005 in the New York City suburb of Hicksville when the victim, Philip Mastropolo, was driving to work, she said. Donnelly said that Shenoy, who was allegedly driving at twice the speed limit, ran a red light and hit Mastropolo''s car with such force that it skidded about 20 metres and crashed into a truck. Mastropolo died on the spot. Shenoy was taken to a hospital but refused medical treatment. Although his Indian passport was confiscated, he managed to escape to India, flying from New York to Mumbai 14 days later, her office said. He was charged in Nassau County with second-degree manslaughter in August 2005, and an Interpol Red Notice was issued, according to her office. The second-degree manslaughter charge Shenoy faces under New York law is the equivalent of the offence in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita of committing a rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide. India and the US signed an extradition treaty in 1997. The treaty provides for the extradition of anyone committing a criminal offence that is covered by the laws of both countries and carries an imprisonment of more than a year. A second-degree manslaughter carries a maximum penalty of 15 years under New York law.

Noida, Uttar Pradesh: PM Modi to participate in Durga Puja celebrations at CR Park''s Kali Mandir New Delhi, Sep 30 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in the Durga Puja celebrations at the iconic Kali Mandir and Shiva Temple located in Chittaranjan Park (CR Park), South Delhi, on Tuesday, coinciding with the auspicious day of Ashtami. This visit marks a significant moment during the ongoing Navratri festivities, which draw large crowds to the area each year. In preparation for the Prime Minister''s visit, a team from the Special Protection Group (SPG) conducted a security assessment of the area on Monday. As part of heightened security protocols, residents have reportedly been instructed to remove all vehicles parked along the main roads leading to the venue. Local vendors and hawkers have also been asked to temporarily vacate certain areas to ensure smooth movement and crowd control. Meanwhile, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory warning of significant traffic disruptions in and around CR Park due to the expected surge in footfall during the festivities. According to the advisory, heavy traffic congestion is likely on major arterial roads, including the Outer Ring Road (particularly the stretches between Panchsheel and Greater Kailash), Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, JB Tito Marg, Inder Mohan Bhardwaj Marg, and the CR Park Main Road. It was further indicated that vehicular movement will be restricted on Gurudwara Road, Bipin Chandra Pal Marg, and several internal roads of CR Park and GK-II. Diversions will be in effect from key points, including under the Panchsheel, IIT, and Nehru Place flyovers. Light and heavy goods vehicles (LGVs and HGVs) will be redirected accordingly. Commuters have been advised to avoid the affected routes and instead use alternative roads such as MG Road, Aurobindo Marg, Mathura Road, Lala Lajpat Rai Road, and Mehrauli-Badarpur Road to reach their destinations. These restrictions are expected to remain in place until October 2. The Prime Minister''s participation in the celebrations is seen as a gesture of cultural solidarity and a tribute to the deep-rooted spiritual traditions associated with Durga Puja, one of the most widely celebrated festivals in India. The CR Park Durga Puja, one of the most prominent in the capital, sees the setup of grand pandals, vibrant cultural performances, and religious rituals, attracting thousands of devotees from across Delhi-NCR. The Kali Mandir complex in CR Park, established in the 1970s, is considered a spiritual and cultural hub for the Bengali community in the city.

Noida, Uttar Pradesh:45 cases of stubble burning cases received in Punjab between September 15 to 27 Amritsar (Punjab) [India], September 29 (ANI): Forty-five cases of stubble burning were reported in Punjab from September 15 to September 27, out of which fire was detected at 22 locations. Environmental compensation has been imposed on the 22 locations. and damages were recovered, said Environmental Engineer Sukhdeva Singh. Speaking to ANI, Sukhdev Singh, an Environmental Engineer, said, "We''ve received 45 cases of stubble burning, reported by our satellites. Following our protocol, we verified these within 24 hours. Of those, fires were detected in only 22 locations. We''ve imposed environmental compensation at all 22 locations. recovered the damages, and launched FIRs. Red entries have been made accordingly..." Highlighting trends compared to last year, Singh explained, "Last year, 59 cases of stubble burning were reported...The satellite survey begins on September 15th. From September 15th until yesterday, i.e., the 27th. we had 45 cases of stubble burning...Last year, between September 15th and 27th. there were some rainy days. Rainy days don''t cause fires, as the soil is wet. But this time, if you look closely, there are dry days throughout September 15th through 27th. We have also observed that our harvest is higher than last year''s. Last year, we achieved 20% of our harvesting around the 30th, which we just achieved around the 24th, so harvesting is higher. Accordingly, our cases are lower..." Stubble burning has been a serious environmental concern in Punjab and other northern states, as it contributes heavily to air pollution and poses severe health risks, particularly during the winter months when smoke mixes with fog to create smog. The government has imposed a strict ban to encourage farmers to adopt sustainable crop residue management practices, such as using bio-decomposers or mechanised tools for residue management. Stubble burning in neighbouring states, including Punjab, is one of the major causes of air pollution in the Delhi-NCR region during the winter. Earlier, the Punjab Government held a special awareness and support camp to curb stubble burning, with a dedicated control room set up for real-time monitoring in Amritsar on Sunday. The control room, utilising satellite data, will detect stubble burning incidents and immediately inform the Sub-Divisional Magistrate official of the area where the stubble burning is detected. The SDM will dispatch a team to counsel the farmers against burning stubble. "Satellites detect stubble-burning incidents using various sensors, and the data is monitored by our officers. Nodal and cluster officers of the concerned area then alert the SDM about the incident. A team immediately visits the spot to counsel farmers against burning stubble," Yug, Control Room Supervisor, told ANI." These continuous efforts have made farmers more aware of the harmful effects, and many are now avoiding the practice. We also inform them about different state government schemes that support alternatives to stubble burning. Additionally, farmers who refrained from burning stubble were honoured on Independence Day and Republic Day," he added. (ANI)
