LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1616 TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 10TH FEBRUARY, 2026/ MAGHA 21, 1947 (SAKA) MODERNISING PARKING LOTS SHRI MANISH TEWARI: Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the details of the project by Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh (MCC) in August 2022 to modernise 89 paid parking lots in Chandigarh through FASTagenabled, cashless payments and real-time monitoring; (b) the original timeline for implementation of this project and the reasons for delay so far, including any disputes over taxes and contractual terms; (c) the current status of the Request for Proposal process, and whether the contract has been awarded, along with the amount of projected annual revenue from the project and the actual monthly revenue since July 2024; (d) whether the MCC has been asked by the UT administration to present a status report before moving ahead, the date on which such presentation is to be made, and the estimated time by which the project will begin full operations; and (e) the measures put in place to ensure transparency in the contract and implementation once the system goes live? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI NITYANAND RAI) (a) to (e) The UT Administration of Chandigarh has informed that the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh (MCC) has implemented a single parking pass namely MCOnePass across all paid parking sites with effect from 27.01.2026. Transparency in the contract is ensured through digital payments, electronic receipts, real-time monitoring, centralized dashboard-based reporting and bank-led digital infrastructure. The total revenue generated from paid parking operations w.e.f. July 2024 is Rs. 22,43,90,681/- and the net actual revenue stands at Rs.10,21,71,097/- after deducting the operational cost.
