Warring says, Punjab suffered due to BJP-AAP confrontation
· Visits flood affected areas in Sangrur
· Takes up matter with administration
SANGRUR, September 11: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today said that Punjab was suffering because there was too much confrontation between the Aam Aadmi Party led state government and the BJP led central government.
Warring visited the flood affected areas in Sangrur district today. He was accompanied by senior party leaders including the PCC general secretary-organisation Capt Sandeep Sandhu, Surinderpal Singh Sivia, Rahul Bhattal, Durlabh Sidhu, Sanmeek Henry, Jaswinder Singh Dhiman, Avtar Gaga and others.
The PCC president visited Chandu, Makrur Sahab and Moonak areas, where people affected by floods brought to his notice the problems being faced by them.
He also provided some financial assistance to the people for draining out the floodwaters.
Warring also spoke to the Sangrur Deputy Commissioner on the spot and urged him to ensure that the floodwaters are drained out at the earliest so that the standing crops are saved.
Later in an informal conversation with reporters, he said, although he did not want to do any politics on floods, the state and the central governments had completely failed on multiple fronts.
He said, there was no coordination between the two governments, rather they were confronting each other and working on cross purposes. He said, this has led to suffering of the Punjabis. “Punjab had been sandwiched between the clashing interests of the two parties and two governments”, he remarked.
The PCC president assured the people that he along with the entire rank and file of the Congress will remain in continuous touch with them and whenever they would need anything the party workers will be there. He said the Congress party had formed teams of workers to help the people, particularly the farmers, right till the wheat sowing is completed.
