Famous Punjabi actress Sonam Bajwa has gotten into new controversy. In her new film's trailer, Sonam Bajwa is shown drinking alcohol and holding a cigarette in hand. The Punjab Artists Forum has raised questions about this. Forum's patron Sukhminder Pal Singh said that they have written to the central government and censor board demanding a ban on the film. Even men in Sikh households never touch tobacco, yet this trash filmmaker dares to show a Sikh woman smoking a cigarette? This is a direct INSULT to Sikh tradition, Sikh principles, and Sikh women. This is not just a “scene” this is a well-planned conspiracy to pollute minds of the young generation by planting a dirty image of Sikh women. #AmmyVirk- You pretend to be “sensitive & rooted” but you stand silently while your heroine is shown smoking & drinking in a Sikh household? Do you even realize crores of youngsters treat you as a role model? Your silence means your guilt. Shame on you. Punjabi Cinema has already destroyed youth with endless guns, drugs, vulgarity, & gangster culture. Now it has crossed all limits showing Sikh women with hookah, liquor and cigarettes, a psychological attack on Sikh faith, Punjabi culture & heritage. All for cheap box office money! This dirty trend will rip future generations away from their roots. For NRIs, who only know Punjab through films & songs, this is even more dangerous. This is a cultural betrayal born out of greed & shamelessness. Supreme Court already banned obscene & violent songs/videos in public transport.
