Anti India activities in Bangladesh Dhaka University students on Tuesday threw shoes at an image of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, burned an effigy bearing his likeness, and later placed the image on the ground for people to step on during a protest on campus. The protest took place in the afternoon in front of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) building. Students gathered under an anti-imperialist banner and chanted slogans as the demonstration unfolded. Organisers of the protest said the actions were carried out in opposition to what they described as Indian interference in Bangladesh's internal affairs. They also alleged that India had played a role in supporting prolonged political misrule in Bangladesh and accused Indian authorities of undermining the country's sovereignty. One of the organisers, Riyad Zubah, told reporters that the protest was directed against what he termed Indian hegemony in Bangladesh and its impact on the country's political trajectory over the past several years. During the protest, students were also seen placing a sticker bearing Modi's image near Madhur Canteen, where people were observed stepping on it as they passed.
