Celebration of International Women’s Day at KVK Kulgam Kulgam | March 8, 2026 – Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kulgam, under the aegis of SKUAST-Kashmir, organized a grand program to celebrate International Women’s Day, centering on the 2026 global theme "Give to Gain." The event brought together a large number of progressive female farmers and rural women from various parts of the district. Dr. Ab Shakoor Khanday, Head of KVK Kulgam, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the indispensable role of women in the agricultural landscape. He emphasized that women are the backbone of the rural economy and food security. Dr. Khanday urged participants to transition from traditional farming to agri-business, noting that by "giving" women access to technical expertise and branding, the entire community "gains" economic stability and prosperity. Dr. Tariq Iqbal, SMS (Agricultural Extension), spoke extensively on the strategic role of women in modernizing agriculture. He pointed out that empowering women with scientific knowledge ensures faster technology adoption at the grassroots level. He stressed that women are the primary catalysts for social and economic change in rural households. The program concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks presented by Dr. Tariq Iqbal. He expressed profound gratitude to the participants for their enthusiastic involvement. He also acknowledged the efforts of the KVK staff in making the event a success, reaffirming KVK Kulgam’s commitment to the continuous handholding of women farmers through training and technical guidance.
