Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the cloudburst-hit Chashoti village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district and laid the foundation stone for reconstruction of damaged houses and infrastructure. In the aftermath of the devastating flash floods on August 14, 2025, the LG could not visit the affected village earlier due to adverse weather conditions. He had visited the Government Medical College, Jammu, on August 24, 2025, to meet the injured victims and review their treatment. He was in touch with district officials, monitoring the rescue and relief operations through virtual means. The purpose of today’s visit was to formally launch the rehabilitation process and the rebuilding of homes and public facilities—including water and electricity supply and a local temple—fulfilling the government’s commitment to restore normalcy in the region. The LG was accompanied by Leader of Opposition and MLA Banihal Sunil Sharma, MLA Kishtwar Shagun Parihar, senior government secretaries, and other district and sectoral officers. While addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said this marks the beginning of a new era for Chashoti village and assured that the government would leave no stone unturned in rehabilitating the affected families.
