Member of Parliament G. A. Khatana today visited Kupwara and presided over a workers’ convention, where he interacted with party members and emphasized the government’s commitment to equitable development across all regions. Later, while speaking to media persons, Khatana responded to a question regarding the recent losses suffered by fruit growers due to the closure of the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway. He said that the elected government in Jammu and Kashmir should come to the rescue of the affected fruit growers, adding that the central government will also look into the matter and provide necessary assistance to the farmers who have incurred losses. Responding to another question about the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, Khatana said that since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the largest democratic party, the party’s parliamentary committee will decide how many seats the BJP will contest from Jammu and Kashmir.
