Health Department, in collaboration with District Jail Bhaderwah and AYUSH, organised a one-day health screening camp for jail inmates at District Jail Bhaderwah. The camp focused on screening inmates for HIV and Hepatitis A and B. The programme, held within the jail premises, was inaugurated by Superintendent District Jail Bhaderwah Hamidullah Naik and Block Medical Officer (BMO) Bhaderwah Dr Varsha Sharma, along with other officials. More than 150 inmates participated in the camp and underwent medical examinations. Various blood tests were conducted by a team of specialists, and free medicines were distributed among the inmates. A team of doctors from Sub-District Hospital Bhaderwah and the AYUSH unit, including Dr Irshad Malik (Dental), Dr Saima Khateeb (Medical Officer AYUSH), Sanjay Sharma (Eye) and others examined the inmates. Mohd Umar epidemiologist & his team from CMO office Doda also rendered their services. An awareness programme was organised on the occasion to educate inmates about the importance of personal hygiene, disease prevention, and safety measures. Speaking on the occasion, BMO Bhaderwah Dr Varsha Sharma said that on the directions of the Directorate of Health, DC Doda, CMO Doda Dr Tanveer Ahmed and request of jail authorities, the special health camp was organised within the jail premises with the support of specialist doctors, laboratory teams, and paramedical staff to provide quality healthcare services. “We will continue to organise such special health camps in the jail premises in the future as well,” she added. Superintendent District Jail Bhaderwah Hamidullah Naik expressed gratitude to the Health Department and District Administration Doda, particularly Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh and BMO Bhaderwah Dr Varsha Sharma, for taking this important initiative aimed at the welfare and well-being of jail inmates.
