The Department of Commerce & Tourism Studies, Central University of Kashmir, in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL), organized a Financial Awareness Programme at the university’s main campu. The event, supported by the Investor Protection Fund Trust, focused on raising awareness about Depository Services and educating participants on how to safeguard themselves from unregistered investment advisors, fin-influencers, online frauds, scams, and other financial risks. Experts from SEBI and CDSL conducted detailed sessions on investor protection, stock market basics, mutual funds, and the secure role of depositories in financial transactions. They also cautioned students against misleading online platforms and emphasized the importance of verifying the authenticity of financial advisors before investing. Faculty members and a large number of students from Commerce and Tourism Studies actively participated in the programme. The interactive sessions enabled students to gain practical knowledge on safe investment practices and responsible financial planning. The organizers highlighted that such initiatives play a crucial role in empowering youth with financial literacy, ensuring they can make informed decisions and protect themselves from fraudulent practices.
