Srinagar city witnessed heavy rush and long queues at petrol pumps today as a petrol shortage sparked public panic. The situation worsened due to the ongoing closure of the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, compounding fears of supply disruption. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, addressed the concerns, stating that while LPG and diesel stocks are sufficient, petrol availability is temporarily affected. He assured the public that the shortage is expected to be resolved within the next two days as restocking efforts are underway. Anshul Garg emphasized that restoration work on the national highway continues around the clock, and officials remain hopeful that it will be fully functional soon. Meanwhile, the Mughal Road remains open to facilitate the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities. He urged citizens to stay calm and avoid unnecessary rush to petrol pumps.
