Bandipora: Protests condemn suicide attack on Shia mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan. Scores of Shia residents on Friday evening staged a protest in Inderkoot, Sumbal Sonawari area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, condemning the killing of Shia Muslims in a bomb blast during Friday prayers in Islamabad, Pakistan. The protesters assembled on the main road and raised slogans against Pakistan, demanding an end to targeted attacks on the Shia community. The demonstrators accused the Pakistani authorities of failing to protect minorities and ensure safety at places of worship. The suicide bombing attack took place during congregational prayers, killing around 31 people and injuring around 160. They said the incident highlights the vulnerability of Shia Muslims in Pakistan. Local religious leaders and civil society members addressed the gathering, expressing solidarity with the victims’ families and urging the international community to take notice of continued sectarian violence across the border.
