"Every Child in Delhi is Our Own": Education Minister Ashish Sood Slams AAP for Politicizing School Issues Ahead of Exams; Reassures Students as their 'Local Guardian'
NEW DELHI – In a strong statement addressed to the students and parents of Delhi, Education Minister Ashish Sood today condemned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for creating "unnecessary optics" and politicizing long-standing school disputes right before the commencement of board examinations.
Following a successful intervention where admit cards were secured for students of Apeejay School, Minister Sood emphasized that the Rekha Gupta-led government remains committed to the academic well-being of every student in the capital.
Key Highlights of the Minister's Statement:
A Commitment to Students: Minister Sood stated, "Every child in Delhi is our own. Whether they study in private or government schools, my doors and the doors of my office are open 24/7 for them and their parents."
The Role of a Local Guardian: Addressing the students directly, the Minister reassured them that both Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and he, as Education Minister, stand by them as their 'Local Guardians'. He urged students to focus entirely on their exams without fear or mental stress.
Critique of AAP’s ‘Optics’: The Minister criticized the AAP for failing to resolve the 5-year-old dispute between schools and parents, alleging that the party preferred to use the issue for political mileage rather than finding a permanent solution. He noted that while the school was sealed in the morning, it was reopened by the court within minutes, proving that the government's actions were merely for "show."
Zero Tolerance for Coercion: Citing Section 13 of the Fee Act, Minister Sood warned that no school would be allowed to use coercive methods for fee recovery. He affirmed that his department is actively working with school managements, senior officials, and parents to ensure such disputes do not disrupt education.
A Message to Exam-Going Students:
As thousands of students prepare for their upcoming exams, Minister Sood extended his best wishes, saying: "We want our children to excel in their academics for the sake of their families and for the future of Delhi. We are here to provide the mental stability and support they need during this crucial time.
