Police and Border Security Force (BSF) have recovered a huge quantity of heroin during a joint operation in Ghogha village, adjacent to the India-Pakistan border. 25 kg of heroin was seized from a house in this village. According to the police, the value of the recovered drugs in the international market is estimated to be around Rs 125 crore. Police officials said that they had received secret information about drugs being sent from across the border. Based on this, surveillance was increased in the area and a joint operation was carried out. During the search, heroin hidden in packets was recovered from a suspicious house. During the operation, weapons were also found along with the drugs. Police have seized two pistols, four magazines and 60 live cartridges from the spot. In the preliminary investigation, it is suspected that this consignment was sent from Pakistan through drones or other means across the border, which was to be further supplied to other areas of Punjab. At present, the police have registered a case and started investigation. Efforts are being made to find out who is the owner of the house from where the contraband was recovered and who else is involved in this smuggling network. Police say that further links are being established by conducting forensic and technical investigation of the recovered material.
