ABVP's Hooliganism in JNU School GBMs
Students beaten by ABVP Goons
Yet again ABVP's hooliganism and violence is disrupting democratic practices in JNU. The University is slated for its student union elections, and school GBMs are underway. However, ABVP has disrupted School General Body Meetings in the School of Social Sciences today, and disrupted the GBM of School of International Studies yesterday.
In today's GBM at SSS, ABVP hooligans began heckling councillors who were presenting their work reports and snatched a phone. When students began to question, they began beating students who were present in the GBM. They grabbed a woman student by her throat and beat several others, resulting in serious injuries. The injured students are being treated at Safdarjung Hospital.
It is to be noted that ABVP's Joint Secretary has been absent throughtout his tenure, and ABVP has not taken up a single pro-student issue. Contrary to this, they are hand in glove with corporate interests. Due to this, their defeat is guaranteed this election. This is the reason they are resorting to violence to disrupt the electoral process.
Time and again, ABVP has been obstructing democratic processes, to the extent that Election Commission members could not be elected in the SIS GBM yesterday. Whether vote chori, disenfranchising lakhs of people, and reducing them to second class citizens, RSS-BJP-ABVP's fascist assertion on constitutional rights and democracy continues unabated.
The students of JNU will stand up against this hooliganism and ensure they are defeated in this elections.
