A Mega Unclaimed Deposits cum Financial Awareness Programme was today held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Ganderbal under the theme “Your Money, Your Right.” The event was organized by the District Lead Office (LDM) Ganderbal and CFL Ganderbal in collaboration with the District Administration Ganderbal. The programme was graced by RBI LDO Sauwav Gufta as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present included Ab. Majeed from Zonal Office Srinagar, LDM Ganderbal Mr. Zunafar Hussain, Branch Heads of J&K Bank Ganderbal and Tulmulla, officials from ICDS, JK NRLM, and representatives from the Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Departments. From FLCC Ganderbal, Mr. Malik Zahoor, Mr. Shabir Ahmad, Bilal Wani, Bilal Bhat, Riyaz Ahmad, and Shahid Mehraj from CFLs also participated. A large number of ICDS Project Workers, Supervisors, and local community members attended the programme. The CFL Ganderbal and LDM Office team played a vital role in planning and successfully organizing the event. The programme aimed at spreading awareness regarding unclaimed bank deposits, encouraging people to claim their inactive accounts, and educating the public about financial literacy, digital banking, and various Social Security Schemes such as PMSBY, PMJJBY, APY, and others. Addressing the gathering, the RBI LDO Ganderbal praised the efforts of the organizers for conducting an impactful outreach initiative to strengthen financial inclusion across the district. He emphasized the importance of staying aware of financial rights and maintaining active engagement with the formal banking system. The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with participants from various sectors taking keen interest in the awareness sessions and seeking guidance from banking and financial experts. In the concluding session, cash cheques were distributed among the legal heirs for the settlement of DEAF (Depositor Education and Awareness Fund) unclaimed accounts.
