Srinagar, Oct 14: Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone launched a sharp attack on National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah, accusing him of having close ties with the BJP and misleading the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a press conference, Lone said, “Yesterday, I saw a video clip in which the Chief Minister was lying and claiming success in previous elections. Omar Abdullah must prove that he is truly anti-BJP.” He alleged that Omar Abdullah had agreed to give the last Rajya Sabha seat to the Congress only after consultations with the Centre. “Omar did this after discussing it with Delhi. He has to answer the people and prove that he is not working at the behest of the BJP,” Lone said. Sajad further accused Omar of “begging before the Centre” and said his actions clearly reveal his closeness to the BJP. “Omar Abdullah took votes here for the BJP. His recent behaviour shows he is aligned with them,” he added. On being asked about his own party’s stance in the Rajya Sabha elections, Sajad Gani Lone made it clear that he will not support the Chief Minister. “Why should I vote for Omar Abdullah? I will not participate in the Rajya Sabha elections,” he declared. Lone also claimed that the Centre had advised Omar Abdullah not to allot a Rajya Sabha seat to the Congress, further indicating the NC leader’s coordination with Delhi.
