BJP spokespersons Manzoor Bhat, Altaf Thakur, and Sahil bashir bhat addressed a press conference in Srinagar, emphasizing that “our culture and heritage is our true identity.” Manzoor Bhat expressed concern that Kashmiri art and artists are on the verge of extinction. He criticized the present National Conference (NC) government, accusing it of being indifferent to preserving cultural identity. The BJP leaders also targeted PDP, stating that even Iltija Mufti is not familiar with the Kashmiri language. They highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given due recognition to Kashmiri and Dogri languages at the national level. The spokespersons further alleged that the Omar Abdullah–led government has never been serious about cultural issues and accused the NC of failing to fulfill the genuine demands of the public.
