Spl Story;DC Ramban visits Banihal and Kharri areas of JK's Ramban, Assures Relief to Affected Families, also spoke on status of NHW  Slug-0809ZS_RBN_NHW_FLOOD_R By Raja Rehber Jamal Location-Ramban  Anchor: Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohd Alyas Khan, along with SSP Ramban Arun Gupta, visited several areas of Sub Division Banihal and Kharri of District Ramban impacted by recent rains and flash floods to assess damages and coordinate relief measures. The DC, accompanied by ADC Ramban Varunjeet Singh Charak, SDM Banihal Mohd Naseeb, and Tehsildar Banihal Amjad Hussain, reviewed damages to public infrastructure and directed officials to prioritize compensation measures. He assured affected families of timely relief and financial assistance under NDRF norms.   Interacting with local communities, the DC stressed the need to address immediate requirements while incorporating long-term resilience into the recovery process. He also chaired a meeting with officers at Banihal, calling for inter-departmental coordination for effective relief and rehabilitation. The DC instructed revenue and departmental field staff to conduct detailed loss assessments without delay. On the status of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW-44), the DC said that while the stretch through Ramban district has been restored for traffic, the portion at Tharad near Udhampur remains blocked. Consequently, the highway is closed for the 14th consecutive day.
