In BDO office Kurseong, people gathered claiming their names are deleted or under adjudication, as they had submitted valid documents during their hearing. Most of the public came from tea gardens or rural areas around Kurseong. They were shocked after seeing the final list. They approached the BDO and SDO to ask why their names were deleted or placed under adjudication. In Nepali, there are 11 different communities with different surnames; in the SIR final list popular surnames like Rai, Tamang, Subba, Chhetri, Gurung, Sharma were included, but under these surnames some entries show alternate spellings (Rai, Limbu Subba); their names were either deleted or under adjudication. They therefore went to the BDO office to inquire why this happened. Administrations said the matter is judicial and they hope it will be cleared. Ruling party BGPM in Darjeeling hills, including Panchayat President Anu Pradhan and other members, met with the administration. We are not against SIR, but the public of Darjeeling Hills faces problems after the final list was published. Many names have been deleted or placed under adjudication, and the issue is now with the judge. The time for the second list is short, so people are asking how names can be verified. We request the central government to look into this matter. I submitted all documents during the hearing, yet my name was deleted. We are from the tea garden area. What should I do?
