The announcement comes at a time when tourist footfall is expected to rise sharply during the Christmas-New Year season, raising concerns over potential inconvenience to visitors. Passing Sherpa, convener of United Forum of Drivers, said repeated appeals by local cab operators had gone unheard, leaving them with no option but to resort to protest. He stated that the forum was compelled to impose the ban after the GTA failed to engage in dialogue despite issuing an earlier ultimatum. We regret the inconvenience caused to tourists visiting the Hills.
