Alipore Session judge today granted bail to the accused after 35 days of custody. His lawyer argued that rape allegations were doctored after two days of FIR, citing Supreme Court judgments that a mere scuffle between two friends cannot be turned into rape allegations and that such actions disrespect the gravity and pain of the offence. The judge, after hearing arguments and reviewing the case diary, granted bail with conditions: bail amount 50,000 with two sureties and a requirement to meet the IO daily from 6 to 8 pm, and not to leave the jurisdiction of the jurisdictional magistrate without leave of court.
