AAMAR METRO KOLKATA PRESS RELEASE 9.33-LAKH PASSENGERS TRAVELED IN METRO ON 25.09.2025 (TRITIYA) Kolkata, Date: - 26.09.2025 With the rest of West Bengal, Kolkata is now soaked in festive mood as Sharodotsav has begun. Pandal hoppers have already begun pandal hopping. They are preferring to avail Metro services on different routes as this is the most cost-effective, safe, secured and comfortable mode of transport. Metro services also have been helping them to avoid traffic snarls. Apart from them, other passengers too are travelling in Metro to reach their destinations. As a result, passenger count of Metro Railway has been steadily increasing. 9.33-lakh commuters have travelled in Metro yesterday i.e. on 25.09.2025 (Tritiya). This is higher than last year’s Tritiya’s passenger counts of 5.40 lakhs. 6.77-lakh passengers travelled in Blue Line. In Green Line 2.32-lakh passengers have travelled yesterday. Throughout the day most of the train services were run as per the schedule in Blue Line. On Yellow Line, Green Line, Orange Line and Purple Line services were operated almost smoothly and as per the schedule throughout the day. To avoid long queues at counters due to Puja rush, commuters are requested to use Digital mode of ticketing like Smart Cards and Mobile QR tickets which comes with 5% bonus/rebate if booked via app or at the time of recharge. From yesterday, attractive changes in Business Rules of Smart Cards have been made effective. As a result, the prices of Smart Cards have reduced. On the very first day, overwhelming responses of commuters have been observed. At different stations, commuters were seen purchasing Smart Cards enthusiastically to avail the additional benefits being offered. Passengers are also requested to download 'AAMAR KOLKATA METRO' app to book their tickets or recharge Smart Cards anytime to save time. More and more commuters are opting for digital mode of ticketing. Tourists/Visitors may also use Tourist Smart Cards to avail the facility of unlimited journeys for a duration of 3 and 5 days at a cost of Rs. 250 and Rs. 550 respectively. These Cards are now available at booking counters of every Metro station. We are proud of AAMAR Metro and equally proud of our commuters. As Metro is the cost-effective, comfortable and easy mode of commuting so more and more commuters prefer to use it. Passengers are also requested to follow the instructions made through Public Address System by on-duty staff.
