This year’s DGP/IGP Conference was an extremely productive one. We all discussed various aspects in line with the theme of ‘Viksit Bharat: Security Dimensions.’ Emphasised the need to keep focusing on professionalism, sensitivity and responsiveness as far as the police forces are concerned. With urbanisation increasing and India aspiring to make strides in tourism, it’s essential for urban and tourism-related policing to be strengthened. Also urged police officials to boost awareness on the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam and Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita. This is a big departure from the earlier colonial era laws. Called upon police forces to focus on Artificial Intelligence to generate actionable intelligence. Also emphasised on ensuring all-round growth of Maoist-infected areas and the need to eliminate the menace of drugs in society. Policing, like other aspects of government, requires a ‘Whole of Government’ approach. In this context, talked about enhancing preparation measures and coordination related to natural disasters. Presented the President's Police Medals for Distinguished Service to officers of the Intelligence Bureau. Congratulations to these officers for their service to the nation.
