The much-hyped BJP “Badlav” rally in Moga today turned out to be a mega flop. There was thunder in the rhetoric, but no substance in the solutions. Grand speeches by Shri Amit Shah, yet no legal guarantee of MSP for farmers, and complete silence on the long-pending issue of Bandi Singhs ,a matter that continues to weigh heavily on the conscience of the Sikh community. Ironically, the promise of a “drug-free Punjab in two years” through central agencies like the Border Security Force and the Narcotics Control Bureau sounded more like political theatre than a promise as these agencies already function under the union Government, yet they have failed for years to curb the menace of cross-border narco-drug terrorism from across the Pakistan border. When the system already exists, where is the new roadmap? Punjab’s Chief Minister BhagwantMann ji has repeatedly urged the union Government to strengthen border vigilance and stop this menace at its source. Yet the rally offered no concrete plan ,only rhetoric. Not a word about the ₹8,000 crores of RDF, owed to Punjab, not a word about the ₹1,600 crore flood relief promised by the Prime Minister, and instead of strengthening Punjab’s rightful claim over Chandigarh, statements were made that dilute it. Time and again, the BJP4India has treated Punjab like a stepchild rather than a partner in the Union.Punjab deserves respect, justice and honest partnership. The real change will come from the soil of Punjab, from its farmers, its youth and its resilient people,not from hollow rallies and borrowed rhetoric.
