ATTACK ON ED JALANDHAR INFORMER/WITNESS ALLEGEDLY CARRIED OUT USING DRONE A serious incident involving an alleged attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) informer has come to light, in which the use of a drone for surveillance and an attempt to commit murder have been alleged. A person identified as Sandeep Kumar Rana, son of Mohan Singh, resident of village Nangran, has filed a complaint with the Rupnagar police. In his complaint, he alleged that a well-known mining king operating in Rupnagar, Ludhiana, and SBS Nagar, namely Baljinder Singh alias Aman, son of Surinder Singh, resident of Flat No. 204/A, Ambika Florence, New Chandigarh, District SAS Nagar, made an attempt to kill him and his family members. According to the complainant, Baljinder Singh carried out surveillance through a drone with the intention of killing him. He alleged that four to five persons on Vehicle No. PB 91U-9494 (Innova Car) reached his building located at village Khera Kalmot (Nangran), and used a drone to check the presence and availability of him and his family members in order to execute the plan. The complainant stated that this attack was motivated by the fact that he had provided secret information to the Enforcement Directorate, Jalandhar, regarding the illegal activities committed by Baljinder Singh and his associates. Acting on this information, the ED Jalandhar attached both movable and immovable properties of Baljinder Singh alias Aman. At present, around 15 criminal cases are reportedly registered against Baljinder Singh. In his complaint, Sandeep Kumar Rana further alleged that Baljinder Singh also fired two gunshots at him with the intention to kill him. Taking cognizance of the complaint, the police have registered a case under Sections 223, 332, 351(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police have initiated an investigation and recovered a drone are making efforts to arrest the accused and his associates. The complaint also mentions that this is not an isolated incident. Recently, FIR No. 135 dated 24-09-2025 was registered against Baljinder Singh at Police Station Dehlon, Police Commissionerate Ludhiana, under Sections 126(2), 115(2), 304, 191(3), 190, and 61(2) of BNS, 2023, along with Section 25 of the Arms Act, for allegedly attempting to kill another witness namely Gurmeet Singh associated with the Enforcement Directorate. The matter is under investigation, and police officials have stated that strict action will be taken against all those found involved in the conspiracy and the attack.
