*Exclusive Interview With KURSEONG DFO Regarding The Calf Lucky' Also The Visuals* *Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Officially Named A Resuced Motherless Elephant Calf "Lucky'" For And Reward KURSEONG DFO. Now The Calf Is In Better Health* *When CM was in Darjeeling and done the Meeting With the GTA in Wednesday in Lal Khothi that time she heard that One Elephant Calf was Safe by DFO Team' From Mechi River Along India Nepal Board on 5th October 2025.* She (CM) also announced a Reward for the Devesh Pandey, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Kurseong. The Reward highlighting the dedicated efforts of its staff in wildlife resuce. The tiny Calf just 10 days old was Rescued from the Machi River Along the India Nepal Board on 5th October.when floods swept across North Bengal following continue Rainfall and water flow from Bhutan. The Calf was subsequently bought from Kurseong to Jaldapara National Park for rehabilitation . And Now Calf is in good Health. It's temporary home is currently the Holong Central Pilkhana in Jaldapara where it has been under a 21 days Quarantine, since oct 8th , Veterinaries mahouts and forest staff are providing round the clock Care. DFO Said " The Calf is responding well to care we are grateful to officials and Local communities from Nepal and India for their timely assistance, and to coordinated efforts of the KURSEONG and Jaldapara team' which ensured the Calf safely and well being" The Chief Minister inquired about the Calf program from the administrative meeting on Wednesday, commending the forest staff for their tireless efforts. Lucky' now symbolises hope , resilience and the dedicated spirit of those who work to protect India's wildlife.
