Basaveswara Quarry ब्लास्ट में 8 मजदूरों की मौत, 5 घायल

Noida, Uttar Pradesh:Eight labourers were killed and five others injured in a quarry blast near Huluvenahalli village in Tavarekere Hobli on Thursday morning, according to the FIR. The incident occurred between 7:30 and 7:35 AM on July 2 at Basaveswara Stone Quarry and S R Udayashankar Stone Quarry, located 10 km south of Tavarekere PS. Complainant Gopikrishnan T, 25, a labourer from Madapattana, told police that he and other workers were engaged in drilling and blasting work at Udayashankar’s quarry. Around 7:30 am, stones blasted at the adjacent Basaveswara quarry. owned by D Anandaswamy, fell on their site and struck the compressor shed. Eight workers died on the spot after being hit by falling boulders and sustaining severe head and leg injuries. The deceased are: 1. Ramu, 44 2. Raj Pal Singh, 35 3. Satyanarayana Singh, 31 4. Ram Vathar Singh, 29 5. Dharmesh Singh, 22 6. Dharmesh Singh, 22 7. Rajesh Prasad Chowdari, 24 8. Bhuvaneswar Singh Gond, 33 Five others suffered injuries: Nehal Singh, 21 Ananda, 22 Gulab Singh, 20 Raj Pal Singh, 30 and Chotulal, 19. The injured were shifted to Rajarajeshwari Hospital. Police and fire department personnel later retrieved the bodies from under the boulders. Tavarekere Police have registered Crime No. 206/2026 under Sections 105, 125(a), 324(5), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The FIR names four accused: D Anandaswamy (A1), Udayashankar (A2), Pandu (A3), and Tirupathi (A4). According to the complaint, despite knowing that blasting at Basaveswara quarry could endanger workers at the adjacent site, safety precautions were not taken. The complainant alleged that quarry owners and operators failed to follow mandatory safety measures before blasting. The case is before the 2nd Addl. Civil Judge & JMFC Court, Magadi, Ramanagar District. Investigation is underway: Tavarekere police station.
