Traffic movement was severely affected at Captain Morh, Zojila Pass due to strong windstorms and heavy snowy winds. Because of the adverse weather conditions, seven vehicles carrying twenty-four passengers were stranded in extremely dangerous circumstances. Upon receiving the information, the In-Charge (I/C) of Police Post Menamarg, Fayaz Ahmad, along with his team, immediately reached the spot and initiated a rescue operation. Despite freezing temperatures, strong winds, and poor visibility, all passengers were safely rescued with the assistance of Project Vijayak’s team stationed at Gumri, including labourers and skilled mechanics. After the rescue operation, all stranded vehicles and passengers were safely evacuated and shifted to Drass. This operation stands as an excellent example of coordination, courage, and dedication between Menamarg Police and Project Vijayak teams, ensuring public safety even under extreme weather conditions. Authorities have appealed to commuters to avoid unnecessary travel on Zojila Pass during adverse weather and to strictly follow the issued traffic advisories.
