Darjeeling is near the border with Nepal; main border at Mirik Road (Pashupati Fatak) under SSB. Citizens of India and Nepal cross here. Nepalese come to India for treatment or to meet relatives in Darjeeling and surrounding areas, and vice versa. During entry they must show a valid document to Indian SSB; after that they can enter India. In the last four days after the Delhi incident, the checking is tightened. Before the Delhi incident Aadhaar and PAN were valid for entry, but in last four days this document is not valid; SSB doesn't allow it. Now voter card and driving license are valid. If someone doesn't have this document on their phone or in hard copy they are not allowed to enter India. Pashupati Fatak is a tourist spot in Darjeeling hills. Tourists visit Darjeeling and on returning pass through Mirik; Pashupati Fatak is a route to Nepal Market for shopping of foreign goods. But before entry they must show valid documents to India SSB and then they are allowed to enter Nepal. Before Delhi incident Aadhaar and PAN were valid even for tourists, but now not. Voter card and driving license must be shown to SSB to enter Nepal. During season Pashupati Fatak is crowded with tourists; many enter Nepal for shopping. Now every vehicle entering or leaving Nepal is checked tightly.
